'DWTS' Pro Reveals Personal Struggle: 'Crying on My Bathroom Floor' originally appeared on Parade.

Former Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) pro Cheryl Burke has been on a journey of self-discovery over the past few years since leaving the show after 26 seasons in 2022. In addition to saying goodbye to the ballroom, her marriage to actor Matthew Lawrence also came to an end, so it's safe to say she's had quite a bit of change in her life.

Burke has been very active on TikTok as of late, and earlier this week, she shared a super vulnerable video where she dove deep into the personal struggles she's experienced since her life shifted so drastically.

She began the clip by saying, "They say letting go is hard. They say moving on is brave, but what nobody talks about is the terrifying silent space in between. And that in between? That's the transition stage that I'm currently in."

Burke continues, "Three years ago, I started over. Not just in the Instagram caption way. I mean actually starting over. I left behind what I thought was my forever and walked straight into the unknown."

What she said next couldn't be more open, honest, and real.

Wow. She certainly didn't hold back.

"Reinvention isn't a highlight reel. It's not a fresh haircut, though I got one. It's not a glow-up. In my case, it's been me crying on my bathroom floor and then choosing over and over again to keep going."

Burke's fans immediately jumped into the comments to voice words of support and empathy.

One person said, "Thank you so much! I am here and struggling with knowing to let go and actually doing it. I cry on my own constantly, but I know I need to move forward. 😩"

Someone else added, "There's a light at the end of the tunnel, and you'll find soon enough 🥰"

Other messages of encouragement included, "Very brave Cheryl. 🥰," "Perfectly said! 🙏🏻," and, "The silence is a blessing and the best part of my own healing. The fact that you still continue getting up again is actually a testament that you refuse to just be a victim of life's challenges. You'll get there, but you have to continue looking deep inside for your strengths not weaknesses."

Burke ended the video with a powerful statement that people will no doubt take to heart:

"I don't just move on, I rise. If you've let go but kind of feel like you haven't landed yet, take it or leave it, but don't rush it. Don't numb it, but just remember that you're not lost. You're just going through a transition, and with that comes uncomfortable feelings… Remember, there's a version of you that's not just surviving, but thriving."

No matter what we're going through in life, her words are such an important reminder to allow ourselves to feel whatever emotions we need to, but to get up and keep going when the going gets tough.

Sure, there are always going to be bad days. But oddly enough, the bad days are what make us fully appreciate the good ones and recognize just how fortunate we are.

Hopefully, Burke realizes she just helped and inspired a ton of people by putting herself out there and being honest about her struggles. Sometimes, just knowing someone else is going through similar challenges makes them so much easier to bear.

(Thanks, Cheryl.)
