Somehow, a handful of experienced players are still without a home as the 2025 NFL season inches closer. Cap space, age, and injuries may have slowed the market, but that doesn't mean these free agents are out of gas.
Here are 15 notable names still waiting on a contract and a chance to make an impact.
Von Miller – Outside Linebacker

Miller may not be bulldozing quarterbacks like he did in his prime, but he still has modest 2024 stats at six sacks and 17 tackles. He is eight sacks away from cracking the NFL's all-time top 10. Someone will want that kind of milestone and mindset in the locker room.
Amari Cooper – Wide Receiver

Cooper split time last season between Cleveland and Buffalo, finishing with 547 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His career résumé speaks louder: over 1,000 yards in 7 of 10 seasons and five Pro Bowl nods. He just turned 31 and brings the kind of consistency that could stabilize a developing offense.
Justin Simmons – Safety

Simmons didn't rack up flashy numbers last year with Atlanta, but the resume is still solid: two picks and 62 tackles. Just two seasons ago, this two-time Pro Bowler led the league in interceptions. He's still hungry for a deep playoff run—something that eluded him during his Denver days.
Asante Samuel Jr. – Cornerback

It was a short season for Samuel in 2024—only four games, thanks to a shoulder injury. Back in 2023, he had two interceptions and 13 pass breakups. Miami is rumored to be interested, and it makes sense. He's fast and has the instincts to become a long-term starter.
Brandon Scherff – Guard

Scherff doesn't make headlines, but five Pro Bowls and 147 starts say plenty. His last three seasons in Jacksonville were solid, and his pass-blocking was still top-20 among guards in 2024. He's no longer elite, but if you're patching up the O-line before a playoff push, he's worth a call.
Matthew Judon – Linebacker

Judon's 2024 campaign didn't quite hit the highs of his 15.5-sack season in 2022. He finished with 5.5 sacks and one interception for the Falcons. Still, he played all 17 games and remains a vocal force on the field. There's something to be said for experience that doesn't flinch under pressure.
Kyzir White – Linebacker

Arizona leaned heavily on White last season, and he answered with 137 tackles across 17 starts. He chipped in 2.5 sacks and an interception while staying healthy after early-career injury concerns. At 29, he's reliable and durable—traits that should earn him a contract soon.
Keenan Allen – Wide Receiver

Allen's Chicago debut came with seven touchdowns and 744 receiving yards in 15 games, which is not bad for a team that finished 5-12. He's known for his crisp routes and still runs circles around most corners. He's not a WR1 anymore, but remains a red-zone target and possession receiver.
Za'Darius Smith – Defensive End

Nine sacks, 17 QB hits, and a veteran presence—Smith gave Detroit a boost after arriving midseason. He's now a three-time Pro Bowler with experience on five teams. Detroit may still bring him back, but other teams in need of edge pressure could sneak in first.
Julian Blackmon – Safety

Blackmon started 62 games across five seasons with Indianapolis and put up some good numbers in 2024: 86 tackles, three picks, and a PFF grade ranking him 48th out of 170 safeties. At 26, he offers youth with experience, rare for safeties this late in free agency.
Eric Kendricks – Linebacker

He's been productive for years, and last season with Dallas was no exception. Kendricks racked up 138 tackles, added three sacks, and even grabbed a pair of interceptions. He's not as quick as he was five years ago, but his football IQ covers a lot of ground.
Shaq Mason – Guard

Mason's not the most renowned lineman available, but he's consistent. After two full years in Houston and 147 total starts under his belt, he's a plug-and-play veteran. His PFF grade in 2024 was middle-tier, but in the right system, he's a dependable presence who won't bust assignments.
Rasul Douglas – Cornerback

Douglas didn't have a standout year in Buffalo; he failed to record an interception and posted a career-worst passer rating allowed. However, he's just a season removed from five picks and remains a physical presence on the outside. There's still time to rebound in a scheme that lets him play aggressively.
Ryan Tannehill – Quarterback

Tannehill is one of the most experienced quarterbacks on the market. At 36, he's unlikely to land a starting role, but he's thrown for over 34,000 yards and 216 touchdowns in his career. Tannehill's name will stay in circulation, especially as injuries pile up midseason.
Calais Campbell – Defensive End

Campbell just wrapped his 16th season in the league and still managed 6.5 sacks with the Falcons in 2024. That brings him to 105.5 career sacks—just outside the top 25 all-time. His presence alone can anchor a defensive line, and if a team's chasing veteran leadership, Campbell remains an option.
