Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who had been engaged for six years and together for over nine years, broke up in June.
The former couple share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, and a source said the two feel their split will be "better" for their little girl.
Perry and Bloom "want to protect her," the insider added.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom—who share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove—split recently after nearly a decade together. The former couple, according to a new report, apparently think that their breakup is actually "better" for their daughter as they "want to protect her."
"At a certain point, they had to admit it's better for Daisy to see their parents separately, then she won't grow up feeling the tension and animosity," a source speaking to People said.
"They are there for Daisy and have been," the insider continued, adding that "Daisy is their angel, and they want to protect her from anything adverse."

"They want to keep a friendly relationship so each can be around her, separately or together," they added.
Perry is keeping herself busy with her ongoing Lifetimes tour; it wrapped its Australian leg earlier this week and is on a brief hiatus before resuming in Denver on July 10. After a number of North American dates, it heads to South America in September, Europe in October, Asia in November, and wraps in Abu Dhabi on December 7.

"She's happy and just focused on her tour," a source told People of Perry. "Her daughter is with her and they're sightseeing and having fun."
"She never saw herself being a single mom," the insider added. "She's felt a lot of pressure about her tour, and now this. It's been a lot for her. She's still doing great, though."
As to why she and Bloom—who had been engaged for six years—split, "Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years," a source told People. "[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don't communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level."

The two had been "living on an island of stress" and their relationship had "been rocky" prior to their split, the insider added: "Sometimes love isn't enough to keep two people with different styles and outlooks on how things are done [together]," they said. "It can overshadow the love."
